MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A Muncie man was found guilty Tuesday for fatally shooting his alleged cousin in January 2022, according to court documents.
On January 23, officers responded to a home on South Rochester Avenue, right off West Memorial Drive, on reports of a shooting that had occurred
. Officers arrived to find Timothy Hahn suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
EMS rendered aid, but he died once he was inside the ambulance.
According to witness statements, the incident began when Kenneth Burden arrived at the home to meet with someone because he reportedly owed them money. A short time later, Hahn arrived at the home and confronted Burden on the front porch, court documents say.
One witness told investigators she saw Hahn shove Burden off the porch before the two men moved toward the north side of the residence. The witness said she then saw Burden holding a small silver handgun and pointed it at Hahn.
She looked away, and moments later, she heard gunshots. The witness said she saw Burden flee the scene between nearby houses before she called 911.
A second witness said Hahn and Burden were cousins and had been involved in an ongoing dispute for weeks.
Prosecutors learned that Burden has two prior felonies — armed robbery and burglary. Court documents show his sentencing is scheduled for July 1.
