North Carolina man sentenced to 16 years for attacking woman at Indianapolis gas station
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A North Carolina man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for attacking a woman at a gas station on the city’s northeast side.
Prosecutors say 62-year-old Mark White was foun
d guilty of six felonies, including strangulation and pointing a firearm.
Investigators say the January 2025 incident was caught on camera near 56th Street and Emerson Way, and it began as an argument over a gas pump.
Court documents say a woman, Tashauna Gooch, was sitting in her vehicle at a gas pump and that White had been waiting for a short time. White told prosecutors he honked his horn multiple times. Gooch then pulled out from the gas pump, exited her vehicle, approached him with a gun, pointing it at him.
Two witnesses told prosecutors they never saw Gooch with a firearm.
White told prosecutors he walked her back over to the car at gunpoint and told her he would “blow her head off” if she didn’t put the gun away.
White later told an officer that Gooch never pointed a gun at him. Gooch told prosecutors that “she pulled her firearm out of her pocket and held it down at her side.”
According to court documents, at one point during the incident, White grabbed her by her throat, began strangling her, and put his handgun up against her head and face.
