This may come as little surprise to locals who have been following San Antonio’s burger wars, but the planned Fatburger location at 23503 Hardy Oak ain’t happening. Instead, Alamo City firm Brame Brands — the local Fatburger franchise owners — is converting the Stone Oak site to a “chaotic ” new concept, Chuzz Burgers.Brame has been building up the buzz through a series of social media posts starring two (likely AI-generated) mascots — a red-suited man with a burger head and a blue fuzzy monster that looks a bit like a hypebeast Cookie Monster. No explanation is given for which, if any, is the titular Chuzz.Or maybe “chuzz” is a verb. One of the menu blurbs on the newly created website suggests diners “chuzz” the Da’ Dip burger, made with double smash patties, Cheddar, bacon, green Hatch pepper queso, and a Takis or Doritos Cool Ranch crumble. Other creations include onion-ring-topped The Outlaw, which was “built to dominate.”Sides are kept minimal with onion rings and two fries: the unadorned Fries Before Guys and loaded Chaos Fries. The shake offerings (Sip’ Happens) include chocolate, Oreo, vanilla, strawberry, and birthday cake.Brame partnered with Beverly Hills-based restaurant conglomerate FAT Brands to bring two of its flagship eateries to the San Antonio market, Fatburger and Round Table Pizza. Both drastically winnowed down their local footprint after FAT filed for bankruptcy in January.Fatburger abruptly shuttered two of its locations on the Far West Side and in Huebner Oaks, but is still serving at 13480 San Pedro Ave. and inside Fiesta Texas. Round Table Pizza exited the market entirely. It’s unclear when Chuzz’s grand chuzzening will happen. The concept has not announced an official opening date on any of its channels, but Brame held a job fair in late May. A request for more information was not immediately returned. ...read more read less
