Video Courtesy: Court TV COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Around 8:40 p.m., Monday, the jury in the Rick Chow murder trial returned its verdict – finding Chow not guilty of murder in the death of 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton in 2023. Chow, a store owner, had been accused of shooting and killing 14-y ear-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton back in 2023. After the verdict was read, sobs and cries could be heard coming from the courtroom, presumably by Carmack-Belton’s family. Earlier in the evening, the jury sent a note requesting that the judge’s full instructions be read to the jury again. The judge told attorneys for both sides that he has the discretion to do so but never has. The judge went on to explain that because both sides agreed to it, he would bring in the forewoman to ask her about the request. After talking with her, the judge agreed to provide three written copies of his instructions to the jury. A little more than an hour later, the verdict was returned.
