Two people are dead after a driver lost control of a vehicle and slammed into a concrete median along the street in Philadelphia, police said. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the crash happened just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026, on the 2900 block of West Abbottsford Aven ue. Police said a dark gray 2016 Nissan Rogue was traveling southbound on Route 1 at a high rate of speed when it attempted to cross from the far left lane across three lanes of traffic in an effort to exit at Fox Street. At that time, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete median, causing it to roll over several times. Medics responded to the scene and pronounced an 18-year-old woman and another woman between 19 to 20 years old dead at the scene. Police said the driver, a 25-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
