A motorcyclist was seriously hurt after they tried to avoid a car that made an illegal U-turn in Philadelphia’s Tioga neighborhood on Saturday, police said. The crash happened at the intersection of 17th Street and Allegheny Avenue at around 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, police told NBC10. Th e Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling southbound at 17th Street at a high rate of speed when the unknown car made the illegal U-turn, causing the motorcycle to make an abrupt move that avoided the car but caused the motorcyclist to hit a pole, police said. The unidentified motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, police said. The car involved left the scene and police are trying to identify the vehicle at this time.
