Indiana Grown: BeeHive Body Co.’s summer scents
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each and every Saturday, WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.
This week, Mary Hobbs of BeeHive Body Company stopped by WISH-TV, sharing her locally made summer-themed body care
products with News 8’s Pam Elliot.
The Newcastle-based company is serving up fresh scents and fun essentials perfect for the season, from scrubs and lotions to lip balms and travel-ready kits.
From jet mechanic to soap maker
Hobbs shared her unique backstory: BeeHive Body Company began accidentally while she was serving as a jet mechanic on A-10s and F-16s in northern Utah. What started as a side project has grown into a thriving local business. Hobbs expressed excitement about bringing her products to Indiana families and travelers alike.
Bright summer scents and essentials
BeeHive Body Company’s summer lineup includes lively scents like Lemon Shake Up, a bright and nostalgic lemon fragrance reminiscent of childhood treats, and Summer Crush, a creamy piña colada blend with coconut and strawberry notes ideal for a beach-day feel. The company’s popular Cocoa Bum scent remains a customer favorite year-round.
Also featured were Beach Dreams shower steamers, which offer an aromatherapy experience for showers without a tub. “We’re helping bring that summer getaway vibe right here in Indiana,” Hobbs said.
Playful lip balms with a boost of confidence
Lip balms from BeeHive aren’t just moisturizing — they come with fun names and empowering sayings.
The tinted balms, like “Yes Queen,” add a subtle pop of color and include affirmations such as, “The queen is not afraid to fail; failures are stepping stones to greatness.” Hobbs shared that some customers use the balms as blush or eyeshadow, making them versatile beauty staples.
TSA-approved getaway bag for travelers
For those itching to get away this summer, BeeHive offers a new TSA-approved getaway bag filled with travel-sized essentials.
The kit contains miniature shampoo, conditioner, soap, a scrubber, and hand sanitizer — everything needed for a quick trip, neatly packed to meet airport regulations.
Hobbs noted the lively debate in their shop about two-day versus four-day travel kits, highlighting the attention to practical needs.
A lighthearted touch on men’s products
Adding humor to their product line, BeeHive’s men’s wax melts feature playful names like “Elusive Bigfellow” and “Sasquatchy Saturday Night,” timed for Father’s Day.
“Our Bigfoot smells good,” Hobbs joked, describing the scent as what Bigfoot might choose on a date night — bringing smiles while showcasing the brand’s creative spirit.
