Rescind those raises
May 30, 2026
The more I think about the Park City Council’s vote to reward themselves with better than 100% raises, the more disgusted with them I become. Ryan, Tana, Diego and Molly all ran for office in 2025 knowing what the salaries were.
All ran solid, issue-oriented campaigns and all professed a d
esire to serve their community. All were sworn in in January in this year.
In less than five months in office all now think they deserve raises that more than double their salaries to more than the level of probably most employees in this town? And for part-time work? Some of these public servants still have their other jobs. It might be one thing if this was a once-in-a-generation resetting of artificially low salaries, but it is not.
While offering their employees 2% raises, they think they deserve their salaries after five months on the job to more than double? If they think they’re overworked in these five months, maybe they should do less. Councils set policy. There is a very competent large city staff to carry policy forward. Maybe don’t meddle so much in the minutia.
In 44 years of living here and observing past city councils in action, this is the single most outrageous, tone deaf, selfish greedy act I’ve ever seen. I suggest you consider your citizens’ outrage and rescind your raises.
