The Delaware Attorney General has told prosecutors to drop all charges against four university students who were accused in the “Rehoboth Takeover” case.
In a statement issued by the Delaware Department of Justice, officials said that the Attorney General “found no factual basis to charge
the defendants” in the case.
“The Attorney General has found no factual basis to charge the defendants in the so-called “Rehoboth Takeover” case (Xander Nicholl, Angelin Clauvil, Keyon Scott and Eric Barnett) with any criminal offense, and has directed prosecutors to dismiss all charges against all four defendants,” according to Del. DOJ spokesperson Mat Marshall.
The four Delaware State University students were facing multiple charges after being accused of promoting the takeover event that took place on Tuesday, May 19.
According to police, the takeover took place at the beach and boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach during the evening and resulted in businesses closing early and some arrests.
Delaware State Police, the Department of Natural Resources, as well as other local police departments assisted in the response to the incident, police said.
According to police, Tuesday’s takeover was the fifth at Rehoboth Beach since April.
