The Utah Department of Transportation has begun work on a second paving project in Parleys Canyon as part of a coordinated, multi-year effort to improve Interstate 80. The newest work zone is between East Canyon Road and Lambs Canyon (Exits 134-137), where I-80 is now reduced to one lane nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Drivers will also continue to see nightly lane closures farther down the canyon, where I-80 between 2300 East and Exit 130 is also reduced to one lane during the same hours. These closures will allow crews to repave sections of I-80, a critical route for Utah’s trucking industry and economy, mountain communities and recreation traffic. Over the next several years, crews will repave 22 miles, improve eight bridges, install 11 miles of fiber optic cables and upgrade nearly 50 miles of culverts.  Credit: Utah Department of Transportation Drivers should also plan for several other major traffic delays in Salt Lake and Davis counties this week:  The ramp from southbound I-215 to westbound SR-201 will close on Wednesday at 6 a.m. for approximately two weeks while crews repair the bridge. Additional ramp closures due to the I-215 West Improve project in the area include:  Southbound I-215 to eastbound I-80: Closed until early June Westbound I-80 to southbound I-215: Closed through mid-August Redwood Road to southbound I-215: Closed until May 28 Redwood Road to northbound I-215: Closed until July 2027 In Davis County, drivers should expect overnight lane closures on I-15 and Park Lane this week while crews continue bridge work for the Shepard Lane Improved project. Approximately three miles of I-15 between Burton Lane in Kaysville and State Street in Farmington will be reduced to one lane on evenings 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Crews will also close a ramp to Legacy Parkway in Farmington later this week. The ramp from Park Lane onto southbound Legacy Parkway will close at 10:30 p.m. on Friday until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Drivers will be detoured to Parrish Lane in Centerville to get back onto southbound Legacy Parkway. Traffic on the Park Lane overpass will also be reduced to one lane in each direction during this time.  UDOT encouraged drivers to plan ahead, follow posted detours and use caution in the work zone. Project schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment availability and other factors. For the latest updates, download the UDOT Traffic app or visit udottraffic.utah.gov.
