Philadelphia police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a man dead late Saturday night in the city’s Juniata Park neighborhood. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, on the 4000 block of Whitaker Avenue. A preliminary investigation revealed that a silver SUV was traveling northbound on Whitaker Avenue at a high rate of speed when it struck a 22-year-old man who was attempting to cross the street, police said. Following the collision, police said the driver of the SUV fled the scene, continuing northbound on Whitaker Avenue. Medics responded to the scene, where the man, who has not been identified, was pronounced deceased at 11:40 p.m. Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing as investigators search for the vehicle and the driver.
