My husband and I have lived in Park City for 30 years and have witnessed the enormous build-out that has replaced our open mountains and spaces with buildings. I recognize that as the City Council, you face the difficult task of balancing the immediate, competing needs of our community. With tha t in mind, I am writing to urge you to prioritize green space. You have a unique opportunity to transform a concrete industrial area into a green park for locals and tourists to enjoy. By removing the asphalt and creating a natural focal point, you can preserve the “outdoor vibe” that defines Park City. Much like the decision to preserve Central Park in New York City despite the pressing need for housing at the time, or the preserved public squares you likely saw in Italy during the Olympics, these spaces are vital for art shows, farmers markets, and community connection.  While affordable housing is a priority, I do not believe building it in this specific location is the long-term answer. Once this central area is buried in cement, the green space is gone forever. Many of my neighbors in Park Meadows feel that a decision has already been made regardless of community wishes and that voicing an opinion is a waste of time. I truly hope this is not the case.  Please reconsider the current plans and choose to keep Park City special by preserving this space for the next 50 to 100 years.
