On Friday, Fairfield police announced the officer involved in a incident at Fairfield High School on Wednesday has been “administratively reassigned in the department” as an outside organization conducts an investigation. Police said a school resource officer (SRO) working at Fairfield High S chool on Wednesday asked for emergency assistance after responding to a fight. According to authorities, several officers responded to the scene, and one of them assisted the SRO with the arrest of a young man. The moment was captured on camera, and the video went viral. The footage, which shows what it seemed like the officer hitting the student in the face, sparked outrage among the community in Fairfield and around Northen California. On Thursday, the police department released its own videos showing different angles of the situation. On Friday, Fairfield police chief announced the incident will be now investigated independently by an outside organization.
