What was supposed to be a free advertisement for the Burleson Library Summer Reading Program, has turned into a viral moment that even they can’t believe. “Our team creates a lot of really funny and cute videos, but this one took off and we couldn’t love it more,” Community Services Direc tor Deanna Phillips said. She said all credit for the idea, recording and editing the video goes to their program specialist Brittney Cray. So Cray and the library’s circulation supervisor Kelly Clute teamed up to make it a “hot girl summer” featuring the library. “[Clute] has been with us since January of 2018 and she loves this library so much that she gets talked into doing crazy things like this,” Phillips said. It’s still unclear if Clute knew she was going to be an internet sensation. What was for sure is that they all had one goal in common. To get more visibility for the Burleson Library. “Summer is the busiest time of the year for our library and our staff plans amazing events for children, teens and adults all summer long. Last summer we set a Burleson Library record of having 52,911 people visit our library in June and July. The Burleson Public Library is so much more than a place to check out books. It has truly become a community hub where residents of all ages can connect, learn, create and feel welcomed. Our staff pours an incredible amount of passion, creativity and heart into everything they do, and that dedication is reflected in the library’s record-breaking attendance over the past two years,” Phillips said. She said the viral video is just an extension of who the team is already. “They are innovative, engaging and constantly looking for new ways to connect with the community and make the library a fun and inviting place for everyone,” Phillips said. Their libraries offer everything from educational programs and technology resources to special events and spaces that bring the community together. “We hope this attention encourages more people to visit their local library this summer and discover everything it has to offer,” Phillips said.
