FC Dallas players headed to FIFA World Cup make club history
May 21, 2026
FC Dallas will have two active players competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time in club history.
Forward Petar Musa was named on Monday to Croatia’s men’s national team for the tournament. Midfielder Don Deedson Louicius previously earned a spot representing Haiti, whose national
team is making its first World Cup appearance in 52 years.
“It means the world for me and my family. They’re very happy and proud,” Musa said.
Louicius said learning about his selection was an emotional moment.
“I found out, and of course, my first call is my dad,” Louicius said.
Both players credited FC Dallas and their teammates for helping prepare them for the biggest stage in international soccer.
“The guys that are, they have helped me a lot. They push me in practice, they coach,” Louicius said.
“The work I was putting in every day, it was it was my motivation to work even harder,” Musa said.
Musa will open tournament play in Dallas when Croatia faces England, currently ranked third in the world.
“It was funny when I said I would like that one of our game will be in Dallas, and this happened, you know, first game against England, against a big, big team,” Musa said. “But yeah, we are not scared of no one.”
Former FC Dallas player Kenny Cooper said the club is proud of both athletes.
“I think I might be outwardly showing more excitement than they are, but I totally get it,” Cooper said. “Again, they’re professionals; they are competitors.”
FC Dallas head coach Eric Quill shared a message for the players ahead of the tournament.
“Biggest thing in life is… leave nothing on the table. Go be aggressive with your mindset, with your decisions,” Quill said.
Sweden’s national team is also expected to train at FC Dallas beginning the first week of June.
