The Dallas Stars filed an appeal Wednesday seeking to overturn a court ruling giving the Dallas Mavericks control of American Airlines Center, a person familiar with the decision told The Dallas Morning News. The high-profile legal battle did not go to trial in Texas Business Court as scheduled i n May after the Mavericks defeated the Stars in every significant pretrial ruling, including three this month. But the case now heads to the Texas 15th Court of Appeals for further opinion. Joshua Sandler of Winstead PC, who leads the Stars’ legal team, told The News earlier this year that the team has prevailed in multiple appeals within the last year, including one the Texas Supreme Court affirmed. The Stars’ appellate team also includes former Texas Supreme Court chief justice Wallace B. Jefferson. The Stars did not immediately respond to The News’ request for comment.
