The Lehigh County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of their retired K-9. Nevie was a German Shepherd who came all the way from Germany and was trained in explosive detection and tracking. She joined the office on June 7, 2017, as their first-ever K-9 member. Due to declining health, sh e was retired on May 2, 2025, at the age of 10 years and 6 months. During her time with her K-9 handler Deputy Richard Garner, the office shared that Nevie conducted daily sweeps of the courthouses, government center, and incoming county mail. Nevie was also activated for multiple incidents involving suspicious packages. She and Deputy Garner also provided service to over 40 incidents, assisting law enforcement agencies throughout Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
