Woman killed in hitandrun crash along Allegheny Ave. in Kensington, police say

A woman has died, officials said, after she was involved in a hit-and-run crash that happened in Philadelphia’s Kensington community on Wednesday morning.
According to officials, a woman was taken to a nearby hospital at about 5:43 a.m. on Wednesday after she was involved in a crash with a driv
er who fled the scene of the crash at the intersection of F Street and Allegheny Avenue in Kensington.
As spotted by NBC10’s cameras on Wednesday, at the scene it appeared there were two vehicles involved in the crash. A damaged white SUV could be seen resting against a parked car while crews were working to tow a black sedan that had its doors removed and its airbags had been deployed.
In an afternoon update, police said the 62-year-old woman who died in this incident was behind the wheel of a 2008 Honda Accord that was struck in the driver’s side when a white Acura RDX, traveling at a high rate of speed, ran a red light at that intersection.
Following the crash, officials said, two men climbed out of the crashed Acura and fled on foot, headed northbound on F Street before heading west onto East Hilton Street.
The victim in this incident, officials said, was pronounced at about 6:51 a.m. after being taken to a nearby hospital.
Officials said an investigation is underway.
