Police officers with the South Whitehall Township Police Department responded on Tuesday to a report of a “four-legged trespasser” who was seen hanging out near the Lehigh County soccer fields. It turns out that “trespasser” was a black bear, who apparently loves soccer! Thanks to a co ordinated effort with wildlife officials, the black bear was safely and humanely captured, officials said in a Facebook post. According to police, the bear was safely loaded into a transport culvert trap and was relocated to a “much more suitable” wooded habitat — far away from sports fields. “We are happy to report that both the bear and our officers are safe and unharmed!,” police wrote.
