Lakeside Shopping Center is expanding and upgrading several stores in its J.C. Penney wing, highlighted by a significantly larger Foot Locker location and renovations from other retailers as part of an ongoing modernization effort at the Metairie mall.
The center announced that Foot Locker has relocated and expanded its store to 9,332 square feet, aiming to provide a broader merchandise selection, updated store layout and enhanced customer service areas. The upgrade is part of a broader push to refresh the wing and strengthen the shopping experience for visitors.
Additional changes in the same corridor include the relocation and full renovation of Zumiez, which now features a redesigned, contemporary store format. Nearby, Locker Room by Lids has also completed renovations, contributing to a more cohesive and updated retail environment across the wing.
Lakeside Shopping Center leadership said the improvements reflect continued investment in the property and its tenant mix.
“These exciting updates reflect the continued momentum at Lakeside and our ongoing investment in creating an exceptional shopping environment for our guests,” said Lisa Manzella, general manager of Lakeside Shopping Center. “The expanded Foot Locker, along with the recent renovations by Zumiez and Locker Room by Lids, brings renewed energy to the J.C. Penney wing and offers our shoppers even more of the brands and experiences they love.”
The upgrades are part of a broader strategy to modernize the center and maintain its position as a leading retail destination in the Gulf South, with ongoing renovations and new concepts aimed at adapting to changing consumer expectations.
Lakeside Shopping Center, which has operated for more than 65 years, is the largest shopping center in Louisiana. It features more than 1.2 million square feet of retail space and over 100 stores, including anchors Dillard’s, Macy’s and J.C. Penney.
The company said the ongoing improvements are intended to enhance shopping, dining and entertainment options while reinforcing the mall’s long-term role as a regional retail hub.
