Firefighters were battling a vegetation fire that burned nearly 70 acres off Altamont Pass Road near Livermore on Sunday afternoon, according to Cal Fire. Just before 12:30 p.m., Cal Fire SCU posted on X firefighters were on the scene of a vegetation fire off Altamont Pass Road, northeast of Live rmore. The fire was initially reported to be 3 to 5 acres in size. Half an hour later, Cal Fire said the vegetation fire, which was dubbed the Pass Fire, had grown to reach approximately 80 acres in size. At 1:30 p.m., Cal Fire announced on X forward progress was stopped on the fire and it was 30% contained. A few hours later, Cal Fire said more accurate GPS mapping placed the final acreage of the fire at 69 acres.
