A suspect turned herself in to the police following a shooting that sent one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.According to the Boise Police Department, at approximately 12:45 a.m. Sunday, officers were called t
o the area between W. Belmont St. and S. Longmont Ave. After arriving at the scene, police found a male with two gunshot wounds.BPD and Ada County Paramedics treated the patient at the scene before he was transported to St. Alphonsus Hospital with life-threatening injuries.Boise State University issued an emergency alert at 2:09 a.m. Sunday, stating that BPD was searching for a suspect involved in the shooting.The alert detailed a description of the suspect, "a Hispanic female in her mid-20s, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and 120 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and facial tattoos."The public was asked to avoid the area and to remain alert.Then, at 4:43 a.m. Sunday, the university issued another alert stating that Boise Police had taken a suspect into custody and that normal campus operations would resume."There is no additional information indicating an ongoing concern related to this incident," the alert said.Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Sophie Rains of Boise, Idaho.BPD confirms that Rains eventually turned herself in to the Boise Police station and is facing a felony aggravated battery charge.
