A 37-year-old Minotola, New Jersey man, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to charges of assault on a law-enforcement officer and leaving the scene of an accident, following separate incidents that happened last year. Officials said Jeffrey Phillips, 37, or Minotola, NJ, pleaded following incident that happened in Hammonton and Buena Vista Township in 2025. In the most recent incident, Phillips admitted that he spat on and injured at least one officers of the Hammonton Police Department on Aug. 7, 2025, when he was accused of attempting to steal an e-bike at the Hammonton Train Station. In that incident, officials said, Phillips was spotted by officers near an e-bike he was accused of attempting to steal and he attempted to flee when officers tried to stop him. During his arrest, officials said, he spat on and injured at least one officer. Also, Phillips admitted his involvement in a crash that, officials said, happened on September 30, 2025, in the area of U.S. Highway 40 and Tuckahoe Road in Buena Vista Township. In that incident, police said, Phillips approached officers who were investigating a crash and admitted he was behind the wheel of a vehicle that fled earlier, before he returned to the scene.
