Air Force Junior ROTC cadets earn perfect score on assessment

The Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program at Golden Valley High School, unit CA-20063, scored 100% and earned an overall rating of “Exceeds Standards” for their unit inspection, the highest rating attainable, according to a news release from the William S
. Hart Union High School District.
The instructors and cadets exceeded the standard on 10 assessment checklist items and had zero discrepancies. AFJROTC Unit CA-20063 operates out of Golden Valley High School and consists of 108 cadets from Golden Valley, Hart and Canyon high schools.
Under the instructional guidance of Lt. Col. (Ret) Juan Gherardy and Master Sgt. (Ret) Winston Cagadas, the program impressed evaluators with its strong cadet leadership, active cadet participation and selfless community involvement, the release said.
“Earning a perfect score and the ‘Exceeds Standards’ rating is a testament to the discipline and character of our cadets,” Golden Valley High School Principal Jennifer Ambrose said in the release. “This achievement reflects the exceptional leadership of our instructors and the tireless dedication of our students from Golden Valley, Hart and Canyon high schools. I am honored to support this program that consistently sets the bar for excellence and fosters students who are dedicated to selfless service, leadership and personal integrity.”
