, a few miles away from Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, when they saw a sign for Mystic Falls and spontaneously decided to hike the short trail. Near the top of the trail, her family encountered a grizzly mother and two cubs. Lunn was mauled in the second recorded bear attack on the Mystic Falls trail, following an attack in June 1970. Rawlins City Council OKs tearing down derelict houseRawlins TimesOnce the condition of an abandoned home in Rawlins was brought to the Rawlin City Council’s attention, it voted for staff to demolish the home. Community Development Director Luis Lascano described the house as “much more dangerous than we first determined.” Residents have complained about the condition of the unclaimed property that continues to deteriorate, creating a safety concern as juveniles go onto the property to knock out windows and explore. The council voted unanimously to demolish the house and pay for the work with money from the city’s dangerous building fund, the Rawlins Times reports. Read the full story.
A Sheridan school board terminates superintendent contractThe Sheridan PressIn a 3-2 vote, the Sheridan County School District 3 board terminated Superintendent Chase Christensen’s 2024-2026 and 2026-2029 contracts, effective immediately. The board exercised the termination without cause clause in the contracts. Vice-Chair Sam Olsen, Clerk Gina Hackett and Trustee Ernie Miller voted to terminate the contracts, with Chair Kelly Little and Treasurer Deborah Guyer voting against the termination. Guyer and Little announced they will be leaving the board due to the result of the votes, The Sheridan Press reports. Read the full story.
