Building density, not trees, was strongest predictor of home loss in Los Angeles firestorms

A study by Cal Poly faculty and scientists has found that building density, not urban trees, was the strongest predictor of whether homes were destroyed during the catastrophic Southern California firestorms of January 2025. The paper is published in the journal Urban Forestry Urban Greening.
