Philly DA Krasner challenges GOP leaders' criticism of ‘sanctuary policies'
May 13, 2026
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is offering to testify publicly before the House Judiciary Committee, challenging Chairman Jim Jordan after receiving a letter requesting information about his office’s policies.
“I’m available next week, Chairman Jordan. How about the week after
? We’ve got a lot of weeks before November, Chairman Jordan, let’s go!” Krasner said.

The offer, and the challenge, comes after the committee sent Krasner a letter requesting information.
“We write to request information about your office’s sanctuary policies, which ultimately endanger the communities you serve,” the letter states.
“In essence, this letter accuses the Philadelphia DA’s office of increasing crime. We all know that is completely false,” Krasner said.
The letter asks for documents regarding interactions with ICE, policies regarding the prosecution of non-U.S. citizens, and more.
Krasner said his office will respond with documents that are reasonably available and legally appropriate. He also said he plans to ask for information in return.
“If they actually want to take a look at what is going on with ICE policy in the city of Philadelphia and elsewhere, I would think they would want to get all the documents that shed light on that situation,” Krasner said.
Krasner said he is calling for a public hearing.
“I will answer questions, and I will be asking for a video so that I can release the video,” he said. “I know some people like to do their dirt in the dark. I fully intend to make sure the light shines on what’s going on here.”
The committee also sent letters to the Philadelphia police commissioner and the Philadelphia sheriff, also asking about “sanctuary policies.”
Krasner said he has spoken with the city’s attorney and the sheriff.
“I’m not going to get into what the various legal conversations have been because of privilege, but yes, we are in communication,” Krasner said.
The sheriff’s office had no comment. The city said the solicitor will handle a response to the committee’s request.
Krasner said he is giving both a formal and a “Philly” response.
“”Allow me to quote a Philly expression that you as an Ohioan may or may not know: PULL UP,” said Krasner.
