Search resumes at Everman home connected to Noel Alvarez's death investigation
May 12, 2026
The search continues on Wednesday for answers in Everman, where a 6-year-old boy is presumed dead after vanishing more than three years ago.
On Tuesday, the Tarrant County medical examiner and the FBI were searching around a home in connection with the disappearance and death of Noel Rodriguez-Al
varez, who was first reported missing in 2023 and is believed by authorities to have been killed by his mother.
The home on the 3700 block of Wisteria Drive was previously rented by the boy’s family and investigators searched the home at the beginning of the investigation three years ago, but didn’t find anything.
Investigators were seen outside the home on Wednesday morning, carrying shovels. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to NBC 5 that the investigation is ongoing.
“The search for Noel continues,” the DA’s office said. “This is part of an active investigation, and we are limited on what we can share at this time. Our office’s goal is to always strive for justice.”
Investigators could be seen searching and digging in the backyard of the home on Tuesday. According to Everman Police Chief Al Brooks, no new leads or information brought them to the location.
“It’s just part of the investigative process,” Brooks said. “We’re just confirming things that we’ve already done and making sure that there’s no stone left unturned. There’s no real new information at this point. We’re making sure.”
“They’ve just been over there with backhoes and forklifts and just digging and chainsaws, it sounds like,” neighbor Shirley Grogan described
NBC 5 crews reported seeing a Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office vehicle along with the FBI.
Brooks said retracing steps in the ongoing investigation isn’t easy.
“It’s reliving a nightmare for us, something that’s very heart-wrenching for us,” Brooks said. “But we focus on Noel, we focus on what he deserves, he deserves justice. He deserves every bit of effort we can give him, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Everman city manager and former police chief at the time of Noel’s disappearance, Craig Spencer, was also at the scene. He told NBC 5 that this is an investigation by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the FBI.
In April, a psychiatric evaluation indicated that Cindy Rodriguez Singh, who is under indictment in Tarrant County for capital murder in the killing of her 6-year-old son, is incompetent to stand trial, according to a district court record.
Rodriguez Singh continues to be at the center of the high-profile investigation tied to the disappearance of her son. NBC DFW has previously reported that the child had not been seen for months before authorities were alerted in 2023, sparking a multi-agency investigation and international search efforts.
Back in 2023, police said Rodriguez Singh had fled to India with her other children and husband just before authorities started probing Noel’s disappearance.
During the beginning stages of the investigation, police said that witnesses told them that Rodriguez Singh was abusive toward Noel, who had intellectual disabilities. The witnesses told police she had told them she thought he was “evil” and “possessed.”
The boy’s family also said Noel was abused and neglected regularly, and that food and water were withheld because Cindy didn’t like his dirty diapers.
The police chief at the time also said relatives reported that Noel appeared malnourished and unhealthy the last time extended family members said they saw him alive in October 2022.
