Carimi Construction has grown revenue 140% over the last three years, driven largely by a deliberate shift toward larger projects while continuing to build on its core strength in commercial historic renovations across the Greater New Orleans area
Carimi Construction reported $31.2 million in revenue in 2025, a year-over-year growth of 52 percent from its 2024 revenue of $20.5 million, and a 140% jump from its 2023 revenue of $13 million.
“We put in a long-term plan to be more selective and intentional about pursuing larger projects that play to what we do best. That way we would be able to increase the revenue for each project and build a stronger business that could navigate a challenging market,” said owner David Carimi. “That has been a big driver of our growth, and I’m especially proud that we’ve been able to grow while still maintaining a high level of quality and client service.”
Founded in 2002, Carimi Construction has completed more than 250 projects. Its portfolio includes the likes of Windsor Court Hotel, St. George’s Episcopal Church, former historic Upstairs Lounge at 141 Chartres, a French Quarter skyscraper at 640 Royal, Tin Roof Bar Restaurant, Gus’s Fried Chicken NOLA, Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness, work for The Historic New Orleans Collection, projects for Copeland’s Restaurant Group, and Spanish Stables, which won the Vieux Carré Commission Project of the Year.
One recent project is the full historic renovation of Preservation Hall (726 St. Peters) and the adjoining building at 730 St. Peters. The project includes renovation of the performance venue, including new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, courtyard renovations and structural improvements in the music hall, along with restaurant, teaching and museum space.
Another current project is the 333 North Diamond Hotel, a conversion of a historic CBD warehouse into hotel suites with private courtyards and cocktail pools.
“Our core business strength has always been historic commercial renovation, particularly projects tied to federal and state historic tax credits,” Carimi said. “We deliver tremendous value to our clients when preserving, modernizing and restoring historic facilities while navigating local regulations and historic protection requirements. That part of our business continues to grow, and we are extremely proud of that work.”
Carimi Construction also traces its roots to historic renovation.
In 2004, Carimi partnered with local businessmen to purchase the historic Colonial furniture building at North Rampart Street and Esplanade Avenue. Within three years, they transformed the former 39,000-square-foot warehouse into the 47,000-square-foot Colonial Condominiums, a luxury condominium complex. During that development and construction, Carimi began focusing on building a commercial construction firm aimed at providing high-quality construction and management services to other developers in the New Orleans area.
“We were founded on quality work, diligence, integrity, and our leadership being hands-on in every project that we work on across our company. Those core values have stayed with us through the years,” Carimi said.
Carimi added that the hands-on approach has helped the company scale without losing the attention to detail and responsiveness that clients expect.
“I’m still directly involved in owner-architect-contractor meetings, I’m on job sites regularly, and our clients know they can reach me directly when they need something,” Carimi said. “We have an open-door culture, a lot of synergy, communication and teamwork that show up every day, and we value and appreciate the confidence our clients have in us.”
