The home of FC Dallas is preparing for its last scheduled MLS game until September. Dallas currently sits 7th in the Western Conference standings after 12 matches played (5-4-3), following wins over Real Salt Lake and the New York Red Bulls to start the month of May. Major League Soccer is ta king a seven-week break from May 25 to July 16 to accommodate the World Cup before transitioning to a fall-to-spring schedule, which more aligns with its international counterparts like the English Premier League. FC Dallas will play San Jose on May 16 and Colorado on May 23, both on the road, before officially going on break. Frisco business owners are hoping for an influx of international visitors for the World Cup. The Swedish Men’s National Team will train at Toyota Stadium this summer for the tournament. Frisco will livestream 97 out of the tournament’s 104 matches at Simpson Plaza in front of Frisco City Hall thanks to a special agreement between FC Dallas, the Major League Soccer team headquartered in Frisco, and FIFA.  Tickets for these watch parties will be free and available to anyone, but Frisco residents will get first dibs. The city expects up to 2,000 attendees at each watch party, which should draw people to patronize businesses in Frisco Square and the nearby Rail District.  Toyota Stadium is undergoing renovations that should be completed in 2028. It’s expected to increase seating and add a roof. The World Cup begins Thursday, June 11.
