Sheriff’s Report: Pinebrook driver arrested after falling asleep, blocking vehicles

A driver who fell asleep and blocked another car from moving was arrested over the weekend in the Pinebrook area, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to Pinebrook after they received reports of a car that had been idling and blocking in
another vehicle for more than an hour. When deputies arrived, they could see multiple open containers of alcohol through the windows of the car, which was still running.
They contacted the driver, who was asleep and needed to be woken up. The driver resisted being removed from the vehicle and was eventually arrested.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, May 4, and Sunday, May 10, including drug possessions, suspected DUIs and a burglary.
Sunday, May 10
Deputies responded to a car wash in Kamas after an employee called to report a burglary. The employee said a safe containing cash was stolen from the car wash. The case has been forwarded to investigators.
Friday, May 8
Deputies stopped a car on U.S. 40 and found the driver possessed marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol. The driver also did not have insurance, a driver’s license or active registration. The driver was cited and released, and the car was impounded.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Coalville after they spotted a car with an expired registration. The driver also had a suspended license and required an ignition interlock device to drive because of previous issues with alcohol. The driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during the traffic stop, and there was no interlock device installed. Deputies arrested the driver and booked the individual into the Summit County Jail. The vehicle was released to its registered owner.
Thursday, May 7
Deputies observed a speeding vehicle driving eastbound on Interstate 80. They initiated a traffic stop, and the driver admitted to possessing a controlled substance. Deputies searched the car and also found drug paraphernalia. They arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle.
