NFL international games tracker: Which teams are playing abroad in 2026?
This is the eighth time in the last 15 seasons that the Giants and Cowboys will play in Week 1, including the fifth time on SNF (2013, ’15, ’17, ’23).
After years of uncompetitive matchups where one or both sides were out of playoff contention, this year could be a different story. Both sides have a renewed sense of optimism heading into 2026.
For the Giants, it all starts with new head coach John Harbaugh and second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart. New York went just 4-13 last season, but its first-round signal-caller flashed star potential at times. Harbaugh is fresh off an 18-year run in Baltimore, where the Ravens were consistently one of the league’s best teams.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, have stocked up on defense after years of decline on that side of the ball. They acquired Rashan Gary, Dee Winters, Jalen Thompson and Cobie Durant, plus drafted Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence in the first round.
The first SNF game announced Monday is the start of a days-long reveal by the NFL. Select matchups will be released throughout the week before the full 18-week slate is revealed Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
