Bay Area lawmakers are working on new legislation aimed at lowering the cost of concert tickets and cracking down on scalping. Assemblymember Matt Haney announced the “California Fans First Act” on Monday, a proposal that would cap ticket resale prices at 10% above face value. Supporters s aid the measure would target large-scale ticket speculators while still allowing fan-to-fan resale. The goal is to improve fairness and transparency in the ticket-buying process. Haney promoted the bill outside San Francisco’s Castro Theatre, calling for more affordable access to live events. Another bill under consideration would ban sellers from advertising or selling “speculative” tickets they do not own or have a license to sell.
