(KRON) -- Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown has made an endorsement in this year's wide-open race for California governor. Brown has endorsed billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer to hold the highest seat in the state's office. "I am for Tom Steyer, and I want to tell the world I'm for Tom Steyer," Brown, 92, said. "Based on the issues that I think are important for the governorship, full and complete brain power to absorb and understand the issues and a willingness to not be persuaded by any political convenience... that's what Tom chose." Brown's endorsement can be viewed in the media player above. The clip was posted on Steyer's social media account on Tuesday afternoon. "I am grateful for Willie Brown's confidence as we work to move the state forward," a post on Steyer's X account reads.
