(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR/News Release May 5)–The Nebraska Department of Transportation on Tuesday said work on the Adams Street bridge and U.S. Highway 6 or Sun Valley Boulevard bridge over Interstate 180 will begin May 11. Work includes replacement of the two bridges, replacement of adjacent pavement, replacement of guardrail, and construction of MSE walls, according to NDOT. Adams Street will be closed to through traffic at North 1st Street and North 11th Street. Adams Street will be completely closed at North 5th Street and North 7th Street. Traffic will utilize the signed detour on North 1st Street, Cornhusker Highway, and N 11th Street. US-6 will be closed at Charleston Avenue and the North 10th/North 11th Street intersection between Salt Creek and Oak Creek. Traffic will utilize the signed detour on Charleston Avenue, Cornhusker Highway and North 11th Street. Temporary overnight lane closures on I-180 and temporary overnight directional closures over I-180 will occur throughout construction. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect on I-180 for the duration of the project. Work should be done by December. ...read more read less
