Park City police receive homeless reports in Main Street core
May 05, 2026
The Park City Police Department in early May and late April continued to receive reports of people suspected to be homeless, including in the Main Street core.
Homelessness is not widespread in Park City, but the cases are notable in a community where there are minimal resources for people witho
ut a place to live. There is not a homeless shelter in Park City.
The recent cases included:
On Sunday, May 3, at 6:42 a.m., two people, described as homeless, were seen on a bench on Main Street. The police logged the case as suspected vagrancy.
On Saturday, May 2, at 12:30 a.m., an officer reported they were “making contact” with a person who was seen sleeping on Main Street. The police said the contact occurred during a property watch.
On Tuesday, April 28, at 9:02 a.m., a man reportedly was seen on a property along Deer Valley Drive the night before. The police were told the person stayed the night.
On Monday, April 27, at 1:13 p.m., someone reported people, described as homeless, “camping” close to the Old Town transit center. The person who contacted the police entered the building and said “it smelled of urine,” according to public police logs.
On May 3 at midnight, meanwhile, an officer visited the Old Town transit center, indicating nothing of significance was seen. The police sometimes check for people staying in the transit center during the overnight hours.
There has long been concern about the dangers of homelessness in Park City, where cold temperatures through much of the year and inclement weather are threats to people without places to stay. There are also concerns about the homeless lighting fires for warmth or for cooking that could become out of control and spread to buildings or vegetation.
