Dry and sunny today, before rain storms Wednesday
May 05, 2026
Tuesday is shaping up to feel much more like early summer around the Carolinas. We’ll wake up to plenty of sunshine and a warmer start to the day, with afternoon temperatures quickly climbing into the low 80s. It’ll also turn a bit breezy by the afternoon, with wind gusts around 25 mph at
times as our next weather maker starts getting closer.
Enjoy the dry weather while it lasts, because changes begin moving in late Tuesday night.
Clouds will gradually increase overnight, and by Wednesday we’ll hold onto mostly cloudy skies for much of the day. The morning will stay mainly dry, but scattered showers will begin developing into the afternoon and evening. Even with the extra clouds, temperatures stay warm, reaching the middle 80s.
The more active stretch of weather arrives Wednesday night and Thursday.
Rain chances ramp up considerably just before 9pm Wednesday, with periods of showers and a few thunderstorms expected to continue into Thursday. It doesn’t look like an all-day non-stop rain, but there will likely be several rounds moving through, so you’ll want to keep the umbrella nearby and check the radar before heading out.
With the clouds and rain around Thursday, temperatures back off slightly, with highs settling into the upper 70s.
By late Thursday night, the system finally begins pulling away, and that opens the door for a much nicer end to the week. Sunshine and drier air return Friday, giving us a refreshing break after the midweek rain.
