Indianapolis expands mental health crisis care team to countywide service
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis government is expanding mental health crisis care services.
A news release issued Monday said the Clinician-Led Community Response team will now be available countywide. This expansi
on provides 24/7 mobile support from trained clinicians and peer specialists.
The Clinician-Led Community Response team launched in 2023. Since its inception, the team has responded to more than 2,000 calls. These calls have involved connecting individuals in crisis to appropriate community resources.
Throughout Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Indianapolis will also host free community events. These events were designed to raise awareness about mental health, the release said. Events include an overdose reversal education session at 6 p.m. Wednesday at The Bridge Indy, 959 N. Holmes Ave., and suicide prevention education at 6 p.m. Thursday at the same location.
A youth mental health forum will be at 6 p.m. May 28 at the Frederick Douglass Park Family Center, 1616 E. 25th St. That forum is for people 14 and older.
