All INdiana Politics, May 3, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Sunday’s edition of “All INdiana Politics,” News 8’s Political Reporter Garrett Bergquist is joined by U.S. Rep. André Carson, D-Indiana.
Carson has raised concerns that a recent Supreme Court ruling on the Voting Rights A
ct could jeopardize local congressional districts. The ruling mandates that lawsuits challenging racial gerrymandering must now prove intentional discrimination.
The Supreme Court’s decision specifies that any legal action against potential racial gerrymandering requires explicit proof of intentional discrimination. This shift in evidentiary standards has prompted discussion regarding its potential impact on electoral maps.
The congressman also addressed a shooting that occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
In a separate political development in Indiana, eight state Senate Republicans are facing primary challengers in Tuesday’s election. These challengers have received endorsements from former President Donald Trump and Gov. Mike Braun.
The eight Republican state senators facing primary opposition had previously voted against redrawing Indiana’s congressional districts.
Bergquist provided a closer look at these state Senate primary races. The political landscape in Indiana includes discussions among experts on the potential impact of these challenges. Lacey Berkshire, a Republican and Brad Boswell, a Democrat, are members of the “All Indiana Politics” political team. They participate in discussions regarding current political events and primary elections.
The program “All INdiana Politics” is scheduled to return next Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
