 The San Diego Humane Society rescued hundreds of apparently ill-cared-for animals ranging from livestock to household pets from a Julian animal sanctuary on Friday. Among the impounded mammals and fowl taken from Villa Chardonnay With Wings on Boulder Road were more than 100 cats, along with do gs, donkeys, alpacas, geese, chickens, roosters, turkeys, goats, peacocks, ravens, a crow and “at least” 150 horses, according to the Humane Society. SkyRanger 7 flew over the property on Friday afternoon and spotted dozens of horses and animal crates, as well as patrol cars and other official vehicles. “Given the scope and complexity of the case, San Diego Humane Society is now leading the investigation in close collaboration with [San Diego] County Animal Services,” the agency asserted in a prepared statement. “We’re also grateful to be working alongside partners from Pasadena Humane Society, Marin Humane Society, and Los Angeles County Animal Care Control. Because this is an active investigation, details are limited at this time.
