Salem teen dies in singlevehicle crash near Silver Falls

A Salem teenager died in a crash early Wednesday morning on a highway near Silver Falls, according to the Oregon State Police.
Adrian Ramos Monroy, 18, was driving a Subaru along Highway 214 on Wednesday, April 29, when the car left the road, hit a tree and continued into an embankment where it t
hen caught fire, state police said in a statement.
Oregon State Police troopers responded at 1:52 a.m. where Ramos Monroy was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was near milepost 22, the statement said.
According to a preliminary investigation, a high rate of speed likely contributed to the crash, according to state police.
In 2025, Ramos Monroy graduated from Roberts High School, a local alternative high school, Salem-Keizer School District spokesman Aaron Harada confirmed.
The passenger in the car, Hallyenangel Marie Hance Route, 24, of Salem, was transported to a hospital in the area to be treated for serious injuries. A spokesperson for the Oregon State Police said Friday, May 1, the agency did not have a current status on the passenger.
State police worked on the scene with assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation and Drakes Crossing Fire Department.
The on-scene investigation affected highway traffic for around five hours, according to state police.
