A cold rain tomorrow
May 01, 2026
A cold rain is on the way for parts of the WCCB viewing area tomorrow. A coastal low pressure is currently located over the central gulf coast and will work towards the Carolina coastline overnight. This will make a glancing pass to the Queen City, putting Charlotte right on the edge of a s
hield of rain. Rain will begin south of I-85 late tonight. It looks like the cutoff between just a chilly day and a cold/wet day will set up right along the I-85 corridor.
Rain will continue south of I-85 through the afternoon before clearing area wide during Saturday evening. Rain totals look to be around ¼ of an inch along I-85. Amounts of up to an inch are possible in our far southern communities. Rain or not, this won’t do a lot to end our record drought. We are more than 8 inches behind average in 2026, so values this minuscule, while nice, really doesn’t mean much.
Sunshine and a chilly day with highs near 70 arrive for Sunday afternoon. A slow warming trend begins to start next week with the next chance of rain being by the middle of next week.
