ELKHART, Ind. (WISH) — A shooting on Monday left a male dead and a female injured, the Elkhart Police Department said in a news release. Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident, which occurred in the 2500 block of Links Dr. The Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received calls reporting the shooting with injuries at about 1:54 p.m. in the area of Links Drive and Troon Court. The shooting happened in the 2500 block of Links Drive, which is at The Highlands Apartments. Officers found a female with an apparent gunshot wound lying outside. A male with apparent gunshot wounds was found inside an apartment. Elkhart Fire Department medics rendered first aid, but the male dies at the scene. The female was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries. No arrests were made as the investigation continued. No additional details were immediately available.
