RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond mother whose daughter disappeared in 2016 held the ninth annual Missing Persons Day community event Saturday afternoon. Twenty-one-year-old Keeshae Jacobs went missing the morning of Friday, Sept. 26, 2016, near Cedar Street Baptist Church in Richmond. In July 202 4, Richmond Police Department Chief Rick Edwards said that a man already serving a life sentence in Florida for another murder admitted to disposing of Jacobs’ body. Her remains, however, have never been found. "I just wanted a place for me to educate and bring awareness and for the families who are missing loved ones to come and people out there to understand what they are going through," Toni Jacobs said. "Just in case I have a resource to help people, and just put the word, that's all I want -- to bring awareness." Organizers said the event is dedicated to raising awareness for missing persons cases, supporting impacted families and encouraging community involvement in helping bring loved ones home. Toni Jacobs said a provider representing a mental health facility was present at Saturday’s community event to "let [attendees] know that there's always somebody out there you can talk to." She hopes to continue supporting the community. "As long as they're missing persons, there's always going to be a need for help,” Toni Jacobs said. ...read more read less
