Man critical after divers find him at Eagle Creek Reservoir
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man rescued Friday afternoon from Eagle Creek Reservoir has died from injuries sustained after he went underwater while attempting to retrieve a drifting fishing boat, the Indiana Department of Na
tural Resources said in a news release.
Divers from the Indianapolis Fire Department Dive Team recovered the man within approximately 30 minutes, and he was taken IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition. The man, identified Saturday morning as 41-year-old Frederick Holmes, died sometime after.
Emergency responders were dispatched at about noon to the reservoir near Dandy Trail following a report that the man had not resurfaced.
The man had tied his vessel to a dock and walked back to his truck when the boat began to drift away. A bystander offered to swim out to retrieve the boat, but began struggling in the water and subsequently went under. The release did not name the men.
Indiana conservation officers were investigating.
