A Very Big Bethesda Church Just Hit the Market for $15 Million
Apr 24, 2026
Just outside the Spring Valley neighborhood of DC in Bethesda (half a mile down Massachusetts Avenue from Millie’s), the Washington Jesus Baptist Church is looking to move, and its current 28,000-square-foot home on 2.15 acres is for sale for $14,995,000.
Featuring a main hall, secondary hall, c
lassrooms, conference areas, a commercial kitchen, parking, and more, the property, says the Langert Commercial Group, which listed it, isn’t just apt for another religious institution—though it’s obviously primed for such—it would be ideal for a private or international school, or a nonprofit seeking a new headquarters, or another organization looking for an “institutional campus.” Have $15 million to spare and especially keen on living in it? With R-60 (that’s residential) zoning, you might be able to do that, too. Evan Langert says there are developers exploring the potential path of residential redevelopment now.
Aside from that last option (redevelopment), new owners keeping the space intact will likely get a little help on the mortgage—currently, the 70-year-old property receives “interim income” of $7,000 a month from cell equipment that’s reportedly perched up in the steeple, as well as $7,000 a month from a Montessori school that’s expected to renew its lease.
