Independent Bookstore Day is on Saturday, April 25, and the DC area is teeming with indie stores offering deals, giveaways, and more. Local shops are also coming together for bookstore crawls. In DC and Maryland, stop by six of the 29 participating spots for a prize. Northern Virginia has a passpor t program highlighting 18 bookshops, and rewards include a tote bag or an advance copy of a book, depending on how many stops you hit. Beyond the crawls, here’s how bookstores are celebrating the page-turning holiday.  Bards Alley 110 Church St., NW, Vienna This bookstore in Vienna is hosting a morning “audio walk”—a mile-long group stroll where everyone listens to audiobooks—a book signing with Wine for Roses author Emily O’Malley Liu, and a conversation between authors Vincent Tirado and Andrew Joseph White about You Should Have Been Nicer to My Mom, Tirado’s latest horror title (registration required). Hang on the outside patio throughout the day for puzzles and refreshments. A golden ticket will be hidden inside the store, and the finder will receive 12 credits to audiobook platform Libro.fm.   Big Planet Comics 1524 U St., NW; 7939 Norfolk Ave., Bethesda; 426 Maple Ave., E, Vienna All locations will have discounts for comic lovers, including a 60 percent discount on items with stickers through May 2.    Bold Fork Books 3064 Mt Pleasant St., NW Keeping in theme with its stock, Mt. Pleasant’s cookbook shop is celebrating with food and drink for purchase. Matcha and coffee drinks from Find_ start at 10 AM, and the food lineup features Manifest Bread at 10:30 AM, Happy Ice Cream at 1 PM , and Each Peach Market at 4 PM. Free temporary tattoos will also be available.   East City Bookshop 645 Pennsylvania Ave., SE  The Capitol Hill bookstore is offering flash sales throughout the day as well as a free book with purchases over $50. Audiobook lovers will can look for a golden ticket that unlocks a year of listening on Libro.fm.    Fonts Books Gifts 6262 Old Dominion Dr., McLean Spin the wheel for a prize with every purchase, and find special editions of books such as The Secret History of Fantasy. In addition to a Libro.fm golden ticket hidden in the store, try to uncover all the sloths for another reward.    Kramers 1517 Connecticut Ave., NW This Dupont Circle bookstore and cafe is hiding a golden ticket in the shop. The finder’s reward is 20 percent off their purchase. A free “blind date with a book” (where a book is wrapped to hide the title and author, and readers can only see a description) will also be available to customers who spend over $75.    Laurel Leaf 6919 Laurel Ave., Takoma Park This women-owned used bookstore, which also sells plants and vintage pieces, will have a 40 percent discount for customers who play on the in-store ukulele or perform a poem from memory.    Little District Books 631 Pennsylvania Ave., SE Customers who spend at least one $25 at DC’s queer bookstore can spin a wheel to win a prize. There’s also an in-store scavenger hunt for a Libro.fm golden ticket.   Loyalty Bookstore 4203 9th St., NW Head to the Petworth shop for a sidewalk sale. Customers who make a purchase over $25 will receive a free “blind date with a book,” and purchases over $100 will come with a swag bag. Discounts are doubled for members, and if you donate a book, you can enter a raffle to win a six-month subscription box.     Mahogany Books 121 American Wy., Oxon Hill The bookshop is holding a party from 12 PM to 5 PM with music by DJ Dr. Deep Crates and a book signing with “Da Brat” DuPart and Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, authors of The Way Love Goes: A Guide to Building a ‘Beaurtiful’ and Everlasting Relationship. You can also unlock a year of Libro.fm audiobooks by finding the golden ticket.   Old Town Books 130 S Royal St., Alexandria This indie bookshop will be hosting a full day of programming, including a meet and greet with picture book characters Frog and Toad, a book signing with romance authors Charis Michaels and Alexandra Vasti, and an audiobook walk at 5 PM, where you can stroll and listen to books. Spin a wheel for prizes, find a Libro.fm golden ticket, and receive a tote bag if you spend at least $75.    One More Page 2200 N Westmoreland St., Arlington The hybrid book, wine, and coffee shop is hosting a scavenger hunt for a golden and silver ticket. The prize for finding the golden ticket is 12 audiobook credits, and the silver ticket-holder gets to select a surprise from a cart of rewards. Free books will be available outside.   People’s Books 7014 Westmoreland Ave., Takoma Park  Swing by this Takoma Park bookstore for free stickers and more and try to find a Libro.fm golden ticket.    Politics and Prose 5015 Connecticut Ave., NW; 1324 4th St., NE; 610 Water St., SW All three locations are selling special stock for the holiday, and the mini print vending machines at the Union Market and Northwest DC locations will have an exclusive Inciardi print. The Northwest DC shop will have face painting from 10 AM to 2 PM. Search for audiobook golden tickets at every location.    Scrawl Books 11911 Freedom Dr., Reston Author Lexi Vangsnes is holding a story time for her children’s book Wildspeak at 11 AM, and Reston authors Alexandra Campbell and Ava Smigliani will be signing books at 3 PM. Look out for the golden ticket to unlock a year of audiobook credits.    Second Story Books 200 P St., NW Bookstore crawlers who make the Dupont Circle shop their sixth stop will get a free pin and book from the sidewalk sale.   Solid State Books 600 H St., NE; 1809 14th St., NW Search for golden tickets at both locations to win 12 audiobook credits, and every purchase comes with a “blind date with a book.” The H Street location also has a prize wheel.    Wonderland Books 7920 Norfolk Ave., Bethesda The Bethesda bookstore is hosting a raffle with prizes donated by neighborhood shops and restaurants, such as gift cards for Bethesda Chocolates and Mexican restaurant Gringos Mariachis.
