SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- An artificial intelligence model that's been deemed too dangerous to be released to the public has reportedly been accessed by unauthorized users. The model, Claude Mythos, was announced by AI company Anthropic earlier this month. Mythos is a cybersecurity AI model that's ap parently capable of finding otherwise undetectable software vulnerabilities in software systems with a minimum of human guidance. The model is said to be fully autonomous and so capable of exploiting bugs in software, Anthropic chose not to release it. San Francisco store is owned and operated by AI Anthropic's decision was notable as, according to Forbes, it marked the first time an AI company had built a frontier model AI and decided to withhold it from the public. But now it's being reported that hackers may have gained access to the dangerous AI model. That's according to a story in Bloomberg reporting that the technology has been accessed by a small group of unauthorized users. Bloomberg is reporting that the breach occurred the same day Anthropic went public with announcing the model. The group that gained access to the model is reportedly connected through a private Discord community that surfaces information about AI models before their public release.
