ExNorthumberland sheriff’s deputy to serve 4 years for sex crime

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A former deputy for the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office will spend four years behind bars after being convicted of a sex crime that occurred in April 2020.
Edward Logan Fisher was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 16 years suspended -- for an effectiv
e sentence of 4 years -- on Thursday, April 23, in Northumberland Circuit Court for felony object sexual penetration by force, according to court documents.
The court granted Fisher a $25,000 bond pending his appeal and ordered him to be of "peace and good behavior," per Ryan Mehaffey, the Spotsylvania County Commonwealth's attorney. Fisher was also prohibited from having any contact with witnesses or the prosecutor in the case.
Fisher worked for the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office as a deputy from January 2015 to June 2021. His father serves on the Northumberland board of supervisors. The Spostylvania Commonwealth's attorney was appointed to the case due to the conflicts, officials confirmed with 8News.

The incident allegedly occurred on April 16, 2020, while Fisher served as a Northumberland County Sheriff's deputy, but before he began working for the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office as a patrol sergeant.
He was previously charged with felony attempted rape, which was dismissed during a trial on Oct. 16, 2025. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Fisher was ordered to Northern Neck Regional Jail on Friday if his appeal bond is not posted. He was also ordered to report to the Northumberland Circuit Court within five days of the appellate court decision, according to the commonwealth's attorney.
