LPD Releases Data on Enforcement of Nuisance Vehicle Ordinance

Lincoln Police cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Apr. 24)–It’s been one year since the nuisance vehicle ordinance went into effect in Lincoln, where 128 disorderly vehicles have been impounded by Lincoln Police, based on data collected from April 15, 2025 to April 14, 2026.
LPD says a
bout 60% of those incidents happened along “O” Street and the highest number of offenses happened during May and June 2025. About 57% of the offenses happened between 9pm and 1am, with weekends being the busiest, according to LPD public information manager Erika Thomas.
LPD reminds you that the nuisance vehicle ordinance allows LPD to impound vehicles involved in street racing and reckless driving. Vehicles will be towed but can be immediately released after the first violation, along with receiving a written notice. Vehicles will be impounded for 10 days on the second or subsequent violations.
